Review events

The webhook event for G2, Trustpilot, Capterra and Boxil reviews: every key, its type and real examples.

A review event fires when a tracked competitor gets a new review on a review portal, or when a review's text or rating changes. One review is one event.

eventType: reviews
subEventType: g2_review · trustpilot_review · capterra_review · trustpilot_de_review · capterra_de_review · boxil_review
signalType: reviews.new for a new review, reviews.updated when its text or rating changes. reviews.removed is in the schema but never sent.
Platform field: reviewResponse (same value as metadata)
Tracker: Reviews
relevance: Always { "status": "unjudged" }: reviews are delivered as published

How to read this page

Every review body has the common fields plus one reviewResponse object. That object is sent twice, under reviewResponse and under metadata, with the same values. All six portals have the same keys. Only platform and the values differ.

platform

The portal. Matches subEventType (g2 → g2_review).

title

string|null

The review headline. null when the portal has none (G2 reviews have none).

text

string|null

The review text. When the portal splits pros and cons out, they are appended as Pros: and Cons: paragraphs.

url

string|null

A public link to the review.

author

object|null

The reviewer: { name: string, handle: string | null, url: string | null }. Trustpilot gives a profile url; G2 gives the name only.

media

object[]

{ type: 'image' | 'video' | 'document', url: string }. Usually an empty array.

metrics

object|null

{ "rating": number }, the same number as rating.

reviewId

string

The portal's own review id.

rating

number

A whole number. Trustpilot and Capterra: 1 to 5 (rounded, never below 1). G2, BOXIL and Capterra Germany: 1 to 5, or 0 when the portal gave no rating.

verified

boolean

true when the portal marks the review as verified.

pros

string|null

The "what do you like" part, when the portal splits it out. null otherwise.

cons

string|null

The "what do you dislike" part, when the portal splits it out. null otherwise.

reviewerRole

string|null

The reviewer's job title, when the portal shows it (Administrator). null otherwise.

G2

subEventType: "g2_review", platform: "g2". The review text sits in text. This G2 example has no pros or cons.
